YB Takiyuddin Calls Out “Munafik” Hypocrisy, Anwar Deflects. Answer for the Budget Failures—Stop Hiding Behind Distractions

Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan—as a senior leader of PAS, the country’s longest-standing Muslim political party, and a highly respected, principled lawyer—acted entirely within his rights to use the term munafik to critique the Madanigovernment’s budget policies and their implementation. In political and religious discourse, employing such terminology is a well-established metaphorical critique used to highlight a glaring gap between promises made (waad) and actual delivery to the rakyat.

Crucially, because Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his administration have explicitly branded their entire governance framework, policies, and national budget under the heavy Islamic-civilizational banner of "Malaysia Madani, Reaching for the Skies, Rooted To The Earth”, they have naturally invited rigorous moral and religious scrutiny. A government that elevates itself using sacred civilizational principles cannot insulate itself from hard-hitting critiques regarding hypocrisy and unfulfilled pledges. Calling out policy failures as hypocritical is a valid form of political and moral check-and-balance.

Instead of addressing the substance of Takiyuddin's rigorous, principled critique on the budget, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is attempting to deflect accountability. By dragging unrelated, heavy terms into the narrative like murtad, the Prime Minister is deliberately muddying the waters and manufacturing a political distraction.

Anwar’s approach is a transparent attempt to score cheap religious points by patronizingly insinuating that a legal expert and senior Islamic party leader like Takiyuddin is unversed in religion and uses terminology loosely. Rather than playing semantics and questioning others' credentials, the Prime Minister should act like a statesman. Put down the political deflection and strictly defend the merits and failures of his government's budget policies.
